Pocket Wizard shield for Canon Flash

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Pocket Wizard is giving away free shields for their Flex TT5 transceivers that improve Canon flash reception. Here is the link to request your shields.

The shields are supposed to “dramatically” improve the performance of the Flex TT5 when used with Canon 430EX, 580EX, and 580EX II Speedlites. Apparently radio interference is a problem. I’ve not used my Pocket Wizards outside my studio yet so cannot say if my 550EX and 430EZ would also benefit from the shields.

Here is what the lovely critters look like:

If you’re inclined to pay for a shield, you can order one that is made of hard plastic and has 2, count ‘em 2, mounting points for vertical or horizontal flashing. This open-ended bathtub for your flash can be read about and objectified here.

With either of these accessories your Pocket Wizard will be the talk of the town and the envy of it’s peers.

Enjoy.
